Happy New Year
We’ve been truckin’ along. Our schedule is as follows:
Daily – Math (15 minutes minimum); Handwriting (will be replaced by copywork and dictation when all letters have been taught); Grammar; Spelling; (30-40 minutes for all Language Arts)
MWF – History (This year we’re studying the Ancients) (20 -30 minutes)
T TH – Science (This year it’s Biology, then Botany, then Anatomy) (20-30 minutes)
Art & Music will be added as time allows. Our focus the first 3 grades is on Math and Language Arts.
T is really working hard. He is cooperative most days and finishes his work. He is now reading chapter books. During T’s Math time, D works on phonics with me and I read to him. He loves poetry. He knows all his letters by sight, can count to 100, and knows his colors.
I feel that we finally have a schedule. Of course, we’ll have to tweak it as we go along, but, isn’t that progress? T really notices when I change the order of subjects, or, god forbid, skip one.
T says History & Math are his favorite subjects.
Math Note: T now does an average of three Miquon Math Labs a day and works for 15-45 minutes. He’s still in the Orange Book.
Handwriting Note: We should finish the first book sometime in February. I can’t wait to move on from single letters, but T needs the practice.
