Get Ready, Get Set …
I spent some time last night culling and reorganizing the school cabinet. It is almost ready for the new year. You can check out what we have left to do by clicking here.

UPDATED 8/16/06
Here’s the final Year 1 update. We used the Year 1 in 18 weeks schedule, but ended up using close to 36 weeks anyway. (Obviously we won’t read all of these, but we’ll pick them up again when D does Year 1.) Here’s what we have left:
George Washington
Buffalo Bill
Tree in the Trail in progress
Seabird in progress
Aesop’s Fables
The Bees, and Wasps and the Hornet
The Fighting Cocks and the Eagle
Just So Stories
How the Alphabet was Made
The Crab that Played with the Sea
The Cat that Walked by Himself
The Butterfly that Stamped
Parables from Nature
Cobwebs
The Blue Fairy Book
The Forty Thieves
The White Cat
Pinocchio
Pocahontas
St. George and the Dragon
The Red Fairy Book
We should be done by mid-August. Hooray!
Slowly but surely, I’m in the process of updatng my sidebar. Stay tuned for more booklists.
I’ve been taking some time off from blogging because, well, sometimes one just has to live life. Today is July 6 and we’re just a few weeks away from the new term. I had planned to start the new term August 1, but have been rethinking that a bit. I can’t decide whether or not to let the boys have “summer vacation”. The local school district starts back August 15. That’s unusual, because they usually start after Labor Day. Anyway, we’re finishing the last two weeks of Ambleside Online Year 1 in 18 weeks. We have finished 90% of the readings. Enough, in my opinion to move on. I’d like T to continue Math and Copywork daily, since he needs to work on those skills. Beyond that, we’ll continue to read aloud from the AO Year 0 and 1 lists. I think a two or three week break would do me good and allow me time to get some household projects completed.
