The Last Few Bits

We’re done with tablework for the year. That means no math, spelling, copywork or Greek. We are going to continue with our Term 1 readings until they’re finished. Here’s what we have left:

The Little Duke – Chapter 6

A Child’s History of the World – Chapter 53

Burgess Animal Book – Chapters 23 & 24

4 Poems by Walter de la Mare

Finish Door in the Wall (about 3 pages)

In addition, we just began Mary Poppins and Farmer Boy, which we’ll read as our family read-alouds. Then, it’s on to our term break, which will continue until about January 2nd. We’re staying home for a quiet Christmas, then Grandmother and Grandpa will visit for the last week of the year.

Never Mind, I’m Too Tired

Never mind that I stayed up waaay too late watching Pirates of the Carribean. Never mind that the entire family, including Daddy, slept until almost 9:30. Never mind that school went very well. Never mind that we still went to Park Day.

I’m tired!!! It’s only 6:30 and I’m ready for bed. I am in the mood to cancel baths because I’m just too tired. I do have to cook dinner, though. I could really sleep without eating. Alas, there are others to consider.

Autism Every Day

T was recently diagnosed with High-Functioning Autism/Asperger’s Syndrome. He was previously (2 years ago) diagnosed with Asperger’s by a school psychologist/tester. This is the first diagnosis by a qualified psychologist. It’s new news and old news. I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know or hadn’t learned in my struggle to understand and help my son. It’s been a difficult 8 years.

I just ran across a movie that shows what day to day life is like for a child with Autism. T does not have the language delays that these children exhibit, nor are his “quirky behaviors” the same as theirs. I deal with most of these same things on a day to day basis. Please watch. The film speaks better than I.

Autism Every Day

Just what I’d have said. I’m just too choked up.
