What Have I Done To Tranquility ?

Tomorrow is our official first day of school. We’re just picking up where we left off, so there’s not much to plan. However, due to the ongoing project in T’s room, I haven’t had time to plan  preschool for R. For the first few days, we’ll probably just read for 15 minutes, then color or paint.

In case you were wondering, no, I’m still not finished painting upstairs. I’m so sore from painting and have arthritis or tendonitis in my hands and forearms. Thank you ibuprophen! The room is fully primed and I’ve almost finished the first coat of painting. It’s a light color, so I’m pretty sure it’ll need a second coat. I worked Saturday, Sunday and today, Labor Day. It’s hard to work when DH is not home, as I’m pretty unavailable when I’m covered with paint.

Luckily, I’ve got several other projects in the works, including being on the planning committee at church for the annual women’s retreat. In addition to going to periodic planning meetings, arriving early on the first day of the retreat to help sign people in, and helping with on-site coordination, I’m also responsible for embroidering the names of last year’s new attendees onto a banner. What have I done!

Finally, I’ve joined the choir at church. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I joined the church, but was unable to due to the needs of my boys. DH is a confirmed non-attender, so it was difficult to juggle both choir and the boys’ needs. My sweetie has courageously offered to keep the boys at home with me on the days the choir sings, which turns out to only be 1-2 Sunday’s a month. Practice is every Wednesday night. Again, kudos to my sweet husband for taking over baths, stories and bedtime routines so I can go. I’m really enjoying it.

I did promise that I wouldn’t add anything else to my agenda in the near future.
